August 15th

I am now outside of Laytonville visiting Martha, my ex-sister-in-law who was married to my brother, Jim and is Casey and Lily's mom. Martha lives with her friend, Tim who reminds me of Santa Claus because he is extremely sweet and gentle. They live in a house that Tim built years ago with 5 or 6 cats and 2 dogs. This brings the count of animals that I have been staying with to 16, and all wonderful but for two cats who hissed at me!!

We all discuss the nature of my trip, which is to journey to India to meet with Radha, Jim's daughter and figure out how to support them, i.e., how much money do they need? what do they want to do? do they want to come to America? These are, indeed, valid questions that we have no idea if they've been broached mainly because of Jim's reticence... Even Berda has no idea how he sent money to Radha but Martha's done some research and sent money successfully so I am on the road to visit and discover what's, well, necessary...

Lily prints out some photos for me to take and I bid them goodbye before taking off next Monday for New York where I'll be staying until I leave for France on the 20th of August.
